Bollywood is everywhere from front row lineup at Fashion week to the show stoppers. It’s mostly the same crew at the same old parties with the same old fashion names and some new faces. This year’s new face at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai was none other than Vikram Chatwal’s muse Naomi Campbell…who made an appearance just about everywhere…(wait for my next post).. Anyways, Vikram Chatwal Hotels (all 2 of them) sponsored the Fashion for Relief Charity Party for the Mumbai Terror Attack victims …HEY..Here’s a suggestion: March 21 2009 marked the 25th anniversary of 1984 riots. Maybe Vikram Chatwal Hotels might want to throw a charity Ball to help the victims in his own community as well? …Fashion for Relief, I assume, serves all…no?!

Anyways this starry event was held at none other than my most fav venue in town – China House. It was quiet a do. There was The never-ending Naomi and The usual filmy suspects. Some were hits and many misses but all in the name of Fashion…So here’s my round-up….

The LBD (little black dress): Lets start with Lara Dutta. She showed up pretty cleaned up with her ankle tattoo looking rather cute. I’m not one for tattoos… also referred very fondly as tramp-stamps..but hers looks kinda classy!!!! Then there was Shamita Shetty. Pray, what does this lady do? Anyways her LBD wasn’t impressive at all. But she is Shilpa Shetty’s sister (pray, what does SHE do??!!) and now that the older Shetty is officially engaged or something to gazillionaire Raj Kundra, the Shettys are royalty. Hmm…

Sold on Gold? Spotted a Ness-less Preity Zinta in a LBD and gold accents with a gold Bottega Veneta clutch. I don’t know what the lady has done to her face but she looks like shes bottoxed her brains out do you think we should blame it on jet-lag? The jet-lag excuse is pretty standard for skin-tightening therapy in NY…just sayin… Anu Diwan is one very very well dressed woman. Her Bottega Veneta clutch in blue ousted Miss Zinta’s gold. Farah Ali Khan and her monstrous Gold bag just stood out so much, I think everyone around needed sunglasses. Maybe next time Farah could tone down the bling bling with couture and keep it strictly to jewelry? Usually, when there is gold involved, Queeny Dhody is at the front of the line…more on that in a minute…

Vision in White? Nina Manuel gave the LBD a miss and showed up in white and so did Sameera Reddy. I think Malaika Arora in her white and blue Herve Leger bandage dress is my vision in white queen.

DISASTER Central: Now to Queeny Dhody. After sporting a Zac Posen (also seen on Frieda Pinto) number on the ramp, she ended up looking a bit washed up in a gold number. Another disaster, Miss Gul Panag, wore what is best considered a cotton dress sold on Fashion Street. Now she & I live in the same condo apartments in Mumbai, so maybe I should show her some neighborly love and be kind? Or maybe I should just barge into her condo and burn her closet? THAT will be a huge favor to her by the way. AND now … my most favourite disasters of the evening!!!! Neeta Lulla and Nisha Jamvwal. Arent they supposed to be designers? Gosh, the tragedy they wore in red and black only makes me shed tears…

Cant leave the men behind…the trend of the evening was definitely denim. Casual Chic. I think Rahul Bose is very charismatic. If only he were taller… LOL. Saw him sporting the “Mai Mumbai” Tee to the do. Very hip. Well, Very hip is also Mr Kunal Kapoor. He rocked his denim look with a Khakee Jacket and so did Arbaaz Khan. Vikram was lounging about in a crisp white kurta and the usual denim. He’s always sporting funky necklines… so very west village of him! Also in denim were Karan Johar who always runs around his Bentley after stepping out of it (every-single-time). Then there was The Shekhar Suman. I think Shekhar and Preity are competing with the Botoxed-Out-Of-My-Brains look.

I think the Lakme Fashion Week was a bit boring compare to some of the genius seen in Delhi but since Mumbai has to celebrate every thing with a bang and then some, this event was definitely the highlight of the week…
