A small town boy comes to Mumbai & makes it big… Now I’m the first to admit that this sounds so clichéd but isn’t that what Mumbai stands for?! Churning out miracles in forms of entrepreneurs, actresses, playboys, designers, and sometimes demi-gods, Mumbai is notorious for overnight successes and that’s why I love my home town… There’s a fresh story, a fresh perspective, a fresh trend and a fresh face every 5 minutes with never a dull moment…And the freshness I’m talking about is none other than Inder Bajwa…

Originally from Bajwa Kalan, he was watching Jalandhar Doordarshan and answered the call of some modeling event which ultimately brought him to the west shores of Mumbai…. Good call, I thought to myself … Unaware of what he was about to unleash on the whole world, this 6 feet something of a demi-god fits the bill for the ultimate model that India has to offer… For 1, he meets the pre-reqs of a model alright – tall, good looking, chiseled features and….. the unspoken advantage of being a North Indian ‘Cozzzzz most North Indians make good looking men & that’s NOOO secret…Just think of all the North Indian princes we had, Maharaja of Patiala (below, left) for one was soooo handsome, I still cant get over that guy especially because he lived in a different century & I never had a chance to meet his-highness… (hehehehe)

So… going back to the Jalandhar-ite, he says he started work in his first week of hitting Mumbai… That dont surprise me…Only a blind man wouldn’t employ this model…actually, I take that back…even the most blind man (or woman) will definitely employ this model and here’s why…

Just to be very clear….even though these pics speak 1000+ words, the point of me writing about this fellow Sikh is merely two fold:

1) Inder, who is already the registered muse for top Indian designers, has started making waves on the other side of the Atlantic…. Duh! It was inevitable…right?

AND…

2) After Hrithink Roshan (how hot did he look at Cannes!?) it’s Mr Bajwa, who’s earned MY vote for ‘supermodel’ status…and THAT’S all that matters on THIS blog! In fact, while looking for the next face I wanted to put the spot light on, I looked right into MY friend list and there he was… and Boom! (Gosh, I am smart sometimes LOL)

Anyways, to reinforce Point # 1, Inder has an outstanding record of having worked for ALL Indian designers! “Yah whatever, you wish”, I said in the most sarcastic tone & in a proud yet matter-of-fact tone he replied, “Just pick a name and I have worked for that designer…AND I’ve done ALL those Fashion weeks too”… Well, not all Indian designers according to me are even worthy of being called a designer (Rocky S for one …YUKKK), but looking at Inder’s portfolio, some of the real designers (or at least who I consider to be real) he has worked with, are worth a mention:

Arjun Khanna, Narendra Kumar, Rohit Bal (OFCORSE), Rohit Gandhi (SEE below, right) & Rahul Khanna, Sabya Sachi (I LOVE S.S.), Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla, JJ Valaya (My FAV), Vikram Phadnis, Wendell Rodricks and Manoviraj Khosla (R-E-S-P-E-C-T) …

So point taken, ALL designers it is!  Now only, if he sported some Dolce & Gabbana… hmm, maybe I’ll talk to one of my other friends, who heads D&G (North America) and hook them up…What are friends for anyways, right??!! …Plus, isn’t it that “two-degree of separation” that makes the world go ‘round?

My thoughts moved on to the scene across the Atlantic…and sure as I thought, he confirmed that the Italians have taken notice …Not the Mafiosi types but a set of Italians who only design the best fabric on this planet & are outstandingly picky when it comes to who they dress … especially at the house of ZEGNA …And, THOSE are some PICKY Italians!!

Apart from L’official, the cover of GQ, Cosmopolitan and a few other magazines, Inder has started modeling for international brands left, right n center if I can bet the last penny, even though he says “He’d rather just stay and work in India”, something tells me…he’s gonna be zipping in and out of European airports faster than you can say “SAT SRI AKAL” … xoxo

PS: Interestingly & understandably, Inder’s past was very different than his present & will look nothing like his future…but for that info, ALL YOU GIRLS out there will have to wait-n-watch OUR NEXT EPISODE of AVS TV because we are diving deep into his life …right from his days from Jalandhar to the fabulous stint with those Italians…So stay tuned!
