Looking at Bollyland from a New Yorker’s perspective, I tend to wonder if the Film Fraternity really wants to listen to views from Stateside?…Coz, it aint all Diamonds & Pearls… I mean, I call a spade a spade & according to me…Not everybody in Bollyland deserves to be addressed as “Ji”…Infact that whole concept of “Ji” should apply only to folks who fall in a certain box on the Raashan Card Form…AGE: 50 – 85: CHECK!

Similarly, not everything that sells in India can sell here… Since I’m from the Sex and the City generation, Bollyland sometimes looks a little stale with all the Saas-Bahu DRAMZ… How boring is the Ash-Jaya or Preity – Maureen story… This is why I don’t subscribe to the Zees and the Sonys of the world…I just cant get myself to relate to the “Chotti Bahu” funda …C’mon peeps, get a life, there is NOOOO time for saas-bahu-tu-tu-main-main overseas… I’m just TOOOO busy trying to figure out which subway to take downtown or how to upgrade to First class when I fly Air France…Which I don’t think I will be flying anymore, thoughts go out to the victims….Be Careful Y’all…lets hope these events dont take place no more…. <fingers crossed> …. Keep praying to God !

Speaking off, I have to invoke God’s help when Bollyland churns out the usual love-triangle or should I say love-quadruple with Bachna Ae Haseeno… And…for the love of the same God, Karan Johar really needs to stop with thrusting NY to carry the weight of a Flop movie with SRK being all cancerous et al …Please leave NYC to the GOSSIP GIRL folks who do it absolute justice! … And I think Bollyland directors could have done wonders with the script of Transformers because it totally looked like a flick straight out of the house of Subhash Ghai…

JUST to set the record straight, I ABSOLUTELY acknowledge that I would die out of boredom without Bollyland…and with the producer-multiplex strike I almost typed up my will because it totally killed me…. Thankfully, B-towns back in action and there is always someone who is bringing it to me here in NYC or when I am shopping in Paris or when I am flying to Melbourne… IT IS a part of my daily ritual & IIFA is the answer to my prayers this week…

PS: I tried so hard to be there this weekend but with this that and the other reasons, we couldn’t make it so I will just wait for the footage to arrive in the studio…
However, I’m not loosing heart…Maybe I’ll get there next year… Patience is usually rewarding
In the meanwhile, here’s a peak at the “Blast from the IIFA Past” …xoxo…
