Shah Rukh Khan’s latest hit film Don 2 has broken the record for 2011’s top-grossing Bollywood film in North America after a mere 11 days in theaters. Released by Reliance Big Entertainment, the Farhan Akhtar-directed action thriller has grossed a stunning $3.3 million through January 2 surpassing the $3.1 million of previous record-holder Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starring Hrithik Roshan and Akhtar, as well as the $2.5 million of Khan’s own R.A. The Berlin-set Don 2 also set a new record for the all-time biggest opening week for a Hindi film in North America collecting a stellar $2.64 million beating the $2.55 million that Shah Rukh’s My Name is Khan earned in its first seven days in February 2010. Co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani, Don 2 continues to play to large crowds in over 160 theaters across the U.S. and Canada.
