When most of the actors today are looking for a niche to excel in, actor Naseeruddin Shah is changing the very definition of ‘being versatile’. This includes being the new item boy as well. Naseeruddin, who till date was associated with performance backed, serious roles has been breaking the mould. While ‘Ishiqiya’ saw the ace actor play the silent lover of the much younger Vidya Balan, then ‘The Dirty Picture’ turned him to an item boy with ‘Ooh La La’. And now the actor is back again with an item song, where he is seen wooing the sultry Shweta Bharadwaj in ‘Chaalis Chauraasi’. Of course, the song has more than one hero gyrating, but it’s Naseeruddin who claims all the limelight with his subtle moves and dancing skills. However, this isn’t the first time that the actor has done something like this. Naseer’s first tryst with item song was way back in the early 90s with ‘Tridev’, which earned him the title of ‘Tirchi Topiwale’ and then again with ‘Chamatkar’ when he did a street song with Shah Rukh Khan.

But there is no denying that his present avatar is quite a hit. While filmmakers – young and established – are finding new characters to cast the actor in, the audience is simply lovin’ it.
