Her time in Bollywood may have been short, but even in this limited period, actress Vidya Balan has already played an array of interesting roles - whether it was the loving mother in ‘Paa’, the beautiful wife with multiple personality disorder in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ or the in grief sister in ‘No One Killed Jessica’, not to mention a RJ in Munna Bhai sequel. But nothing proved her mettle and power in Bollywood like ‘The Dirty Picture’. With it, Vidya was tagged as the first ‘Khan’ among actresses and was almost called the hero of 2011. The one role however that this versatile actress hadn’t done, till date that is, was that of an item girl. But guess Vidya didn’t have to wait for that opportunity to knock at her door with Vidhu Vinod Chopra already offering her to do an item song in his next, ‘Ferrari Ki Sawari’. And while that opens a new challenge for the ‘Paa’ actress, who has readily agreed to do the song, one wonders what an item number will do in a film that’s promoted as a story of a father-son relationship? But then item numbers are a must today and that explains the inclusion. However, the other side of the story is of course the trick to make popular. Vidhu is well aware that Sharman Joshi, the lead actor, isn’t that big a name to pull the audience alone, but Vidya can – much like in the case of the history-making film, ‘3 Idiots’ where Aamir Khan was the pull factor.
