When the lead actress of ‘Jodi Breakers’, Bipasha Basu admitted that the agency in the movie is illegal, little did she know that the same may be true for the film as well! According to fresh reports, Universal Pictures International France and Ors (a co-producer of ‘Heartbreakers’ and a part of NBC Universal Inc.) have filed a case against the makers of ‘Jodi Breakers’ at the Bombay High Court for infringement of copyright and asked for Rs 50 crore as compensation.
The case was registered after the makers of ‘Heartbreakers’ (the film that seems to have inspired ‘Jodi Breakers’) were taken aback by the promos of the Hindi film. Not only was the context the same, the plot too was strikingly similar.
The French producers have already filed the case against five people: the producer, Prasar Visions Pvt Ltd, director Ashwini Chaudhary, the writer, the processing lab and Dariwala, who claimed that the producers stole her idea.
And while plagiarism is nothing new in Bollywood, what we are wondering is who really stole the idea from claimed original writer, Dariwala?
