“As a woman and a jewelry designer, I understand what it means to adorn a woman’s body with my pieces,” said Singh. “Now, I’m working with a larger canvas – a woman’s home, and there is no better way to engage a woman’s soul than to help her adorn her home.” Singh’s inspiration for her home collection came to her during a recent trip to Bali. “More than 90 percent of the homes in Bali have their own, private temples. I wanted to bring some of that Eastern spirituality back to the West with my Buddhas and Ganeshas.”

SAY WE hosted the pre-Fashion Week event as a way to honor Amrita Singh. “The non-profit trade association provides a much-needed platform for young women entrepreneurs to network, share their successes, and learn from each other,” said Reema Rasool, Executive Director and Founder of SAY WE. “Amrita Singh is a smart entrepreneur who created a jewelry business, branched out into making accessories, and is now launching a home line. She is a great role model for other women who want to start their own businesses, and we are proud to welcome her on our Board of Directors.”

On Wednesday evening, Rasool welcomed New York’s crème de la crème to the event, thanked Rahul Baig, Managing Director of Wells Fargo’s U.S. Corporate Banking, who then introduced Amrita Singh and her new home collection. The two-storey penthouse was staged with pieces from the home line, and guests spent the evening drinking, dancing, and celebrating Singh’s most recent success – a way into a woman’s home, and, ultimately, her heart.

Imran had flown into New York city that morning to promote his upcoming film ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ co-starring Kareena Kapoor. After anxiously awaiting his arrival, the crowd went berserk at the first sight of the star and mobbed him for autographs, pictures or for that matter, a hand shake and a quick hello. It became a Herculean task for security to control the crowd, but one must commend Imran for smiling through it all.

Once on stage, Imran addressed the crowd and answered many of their questions. Fans later participated in a Q&A trivia session where winners were presented with free tickets to “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” handed over by Imran himself. There was sheer excitement as many of his fans - male and female alike, managed to get a photograph or two amidst the mass hysteria, as he made his exit.

It’s obvious Imran’s popularity has soared thanks to recent hits like “Delhi Belly” & “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”. And this is not just true In India! After witnessing Sunday night’s utter craze amongst fans, it’s confirmed that Imran Khan’s popularity has surged overseas as well.

Apart from diehard fans, also seen at the event were local VIP’s and well-known personalities from the movie and Entertainment industry. “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” produced by Dharma Productions and UTV releases February 10th in cinemas around the world.

The non-vegetarians relished the Chicken Olivetti, Egg Mayo & Chive Toasti, Chicken Frango, Chicken Liver Pate on crackers, Lamb Teriyaki, Prawn on skewers, fried calamari served with pesto mayo, Marie rose prawns served on melba toast, salmon mousse and many other delicious appetizers.

Café Mangii is the brainchild of Mumbai-based Prashant Chaudhri, who has a passion and flair for hospitality and good food. With several restaurants already to his credit and the third Café Mangii in Mumbai (after Powai and Khar), Prashant has his hands full with expanding the brand across the country. Speaking about his new venture, Prashant said, “Café Mangii has made a name for itself because of its high quality and warm and friendly service, offering its loyal patrons an unmatched culinary experience. The evening saw eminent personalities enjoying the delicacies and flavors of the restaurant. While lip-smacking food and exotic wines were flown in between animated conversations, one could hear soft music blending in with the warm and intimate ambience complimented perfectly by the nip in the air.

Giving a sneak peek at his character, Ali says, “I play the son of a famous film producer. In London, he is this young boy who has gone off on a trip to experience his freedom. And then in Paris, he gets more edge because he has been rejected. He wants to become a filmmaker but he is a pseudo. He thinks he is a great filmmaker but he is not. And when he goes to New York, he is a grown up man.”

Ali hasn’t just acted in the film, but also composed music.

Says an excited Abhishek, “It would be wonderful to meet her once again. She is here to shoot a documentary film and will be meeting us for a brief moment.” The excitement is quite natural, after all Abhishek first met Oprah on her award winning show in 2009 along with wife Aishwarya (she has been a guest before too in 2007 when she draped a sari for the popular TV hostess). Since then, adds the actor, “I have immense respect for her.” Oprah will also be attending the Literary Festival in Jaipur later this month.

The interesting bit is that common song list. Besides item boy Ranveer Singh who has his own set of numbers to perform on, most of the actresses will be performing either on ‘Chammak Challo’, ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ or ‘Chikni Chameli’ besides their own ‘items’. In fact such is the lure of item numbers these days that it’s also on the New Year wish list of some of the actresses, including Neha Dhupia. Says the ‘Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’ actress, “For the next year I wish I can do more and more item numbers.”

After all, to translate a Hindi saying, what’s seen, sells best. And with item numbers that’s exactly the case.

While few speculated that it was a general comradeship between the two actors before they turn co-stars with the big sequel of ‘Dhoom 3’, the general assumption was that it was an exchange of advices on how to become a good father. After all, it was Aamir’s second time, while Abhishek is new to the role. Seems like a plausible explanation.
